Why is it that we undermine ourselves so much, that our talent seeks no recognition here and ultimately opts for an affiliation with an international industry? Why do we import talent and give them preference over the immensely rich and capable around?]]> lawn

Don’t get me wrong, I do watch the Indian cinema. Some of their actors aren’t bad looking either. Having a professional team of over 50 people to work on them, making them look entirely flawless. Sure that’s easy, with the best of the resource, a high budgeted flamboyant designer line, team of experts on lights, makeup, and if that wasn’t enough then a few final touch ups to air brush their blemishes making them look virtually perfect, why would I be surprised?

It is through all that process we are conditioned to believe that the foreign beauty or actresses across the border supersede ours. Watching television the other, an Indian actress sashayed the prints of a local designer lawn wear. Proving thrice in a row with its yearly launch how our models weren’t worthy enough to be sporting the fabric, despite targeting the audience for the Pakistani woman.

Why is it that we undermine ourselves so much, that our talent seeks no recognition here and ultimately opts for an affiliation with an international industry? Why do we import talent and give them preference over the immensely rich and capable around?

Are we undervaluing ourselves so much that we have to resort to international resource every time we have to launch a brand or endorse a local product?

With the same resource, budget and work done on our talent we are bound to not only come across  better than anybody else but we can overcome this handicap of believing that  for quality one has to look far and beyond.

Let’s open our eyes and crib less and see the potential within us. All we need to do is to start believing in ourselves.
